Gregory R. Hodder

Greg Hodder represents individuals and businesses in a broad range of transactional and litigation matters, including: corporate formation, investment, and governance; commercial and real estate litigation; estate planning and administration; contract negotiations; as well as common interest community and not-for-profit law.  Greg has represented businesses at all stages of a company’s life cycle, from entity formation, investment offerings, and M&A, though a company’s on-going general corporate matters.  Greg’s approach to every matter focuses on the idea that regardless of the size of the client, the issues at hand are intensely personal to those he represents.

Greg prioritizes understanding the nuances of his clients’ businesses, as well as their vision for where they are headed.  This full-spectrum approach allows Greg to advise his clients within the context of “the big picture,” while simultaneously understanding the details that can swing a legal issue in his client’s favor.

Greg has represented one of the world’s foremost fishing lure developers in re-entering the U.S. market.  Over the course of his representation, Greg has advised his client’s partners through entity formation and negotiation, the sale of various business divisions, the operation of an international production facility and its Federal Excise Tax ramifications, as well as capital raises and offshore financing matters.

While in law school, Greg successfully argued the first courtroom application of Washington State’s Equity Skimming Act to “foreclosure rescue” schemes.  This case, and those that followed, helped lead to sweeping new legislation to protect homeowners in the form of Washington’s Distressed Property Conveyance Act.

A native of Washington State, Greg attended the University of Washington (Business Administration) and Seattle University (Law), where he met his wife, Lauren.  Following law school, Greg moved with Lauren back to her home in the Naperville area, where they are now raising their two young children.  Greg is licensed to practice law in Illinois and Washington.
